A Few Helpful Tips
1. Cut the bottom off of a plastic cup and use as a funnel.
2. Poor ingredients through funnel into jar. You could use a 1/4 cup dry measuring cup or spoon to help add ingredients to your jars.
3. I used a small gravy ladle to pat down the ingredients in between layers. You could also use the end of a wooden spoon or something similar to level and tap down each layer before adding the next one.
POST UPDATE!!

Awesomness. Can’t wait to make and give these as gifts.
Make sure you really pack down each layer before adding the next so they all fit…especially with the Santa’s Cookies. Enjoy!
Has anyone actually made the Santa Cookies? I did this for all my co-workers without ever trying it out. The baking soda and baking powder quantities look high for such a small batch. Now I’m worried it’s a misprint. The jars looked really cute all made up, now I’m just hoping the cookies were good.
I made them and they are delicious.. no worries, they’re perfect
Yes, we made them last year for all our family & friends as an added extra present & they all went nuts for them!! x

If I am only just making this for me and not giving it as a gift. Can I use fresh cranberries instead of the dried ones for the pumpkin cranberry bread recipe?
Sorry for my delayed response. I’ve been on vacation for Thanksgiving :). I have never used fresh cranberries instead of dried ones. This page has some good tips for you to follow though: Using fresh instead of dried cranberries in baking. Good luck and let me know how they turn out!!
Will they go bad? Like if i make them now for Chirstmas gifts will they be good till then?
Yes, you can make them now! All the ingredients used don’t have to be refrigerated and will be sealed tight in the mason jar with lid. I always make mine early!!! Good luck!
Are there different kinds of dried bananas. The ones I always have seen are really hard. Is that the kind you used for the chocolate chip banana bread? Thank you!
Yes! That is the only dried banana that I know of. I bought mine from a Super Target. Most grocery stores have them. If you are having trouble finding them, you could make your own. I just found this great and super easy recipe: How to Make Dried Bananas in the Microwave: 5 Steps.Good luck and let me know how it turns out!!!
Thank you! I do in home daycare so I’m going to give them out to my daycare parents and a few friends. The liquid must soften them up, I hope! LOL! Also do you know an easy way of breaking them up or can you buy them already in pieces? I’m getting ready to head to the store;)Thanks for your reply!
Kari – Yes, the liquid does soften the dried bananas up. I have a little hand-held chopper that I used to chop mine up. Good luck!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS – Becca 🙂
Yay! So glad Santa’s Cookie in a jar worked out for you. Happy Holidays. By the way, you have a fantastic name :). Becca (too)
Hi! I made up a few of the Santa Cookies, and had one left over so I decided to make it. Well the brown sugar was rock solid and I was not able to get to the rest of the ingredients out. Any tips for next time?
Oh, no! It sounds like maybe your brown sugar was old or your jar wasn’t sealed tight enough?? The mixes should be stored in a cool, dry place. Maybe it got too warm. I read that these mixes should last up to a year if stored properly, but I use mine right away and haven’t had any problems.

Hello,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for these free printable labels. My department wanted to give gift baskets to some people who helped us with a project, and my contribution was the pumpkin cranberry bread mix in a jar. It was such a big hit–mostly because that label is in the colors of my company logo–that my boss asked me to make more for future gifts!
We owe the pretty gifts to you and your artistic genius 🙂
Holy cow! You made my day!!! So happy I could help the company out. I’ll have to make more printables in your company’s colors now…but I might have to charge you :).

how long do these stay good in the jars?
These mixes should last up to a year if stored properly (airtight container in a cool, dry place). Good luck!
These look amazing!! I can’t wait to try them as gifts to give away! I also may try them for a bake sale at my college for my Autism Advocacy Club! Thank you so much!
Awww, thanks! Please, do use them for your bake sale! Let me know how you do!!
What do you estimate the cost of each Gift Jar once completed? (I know they will vary, but an idea would be helpful for me). These look great. Especially appreciative that you have printable tags. Thanks!
I think a good price would be the $5-$10 range. Good luck with your sale!!!
These look so simple but also professional. Can’t wait to make some 🙂
Thank you so much!

Love the idea and the labels are fantastic. My question is can you make several batches at one time. I wonder about the dry ingredients mixing together enough to do several jars at one time.
I’m not sure about making one big batch. If you can figure it out then kudos to you, but I’m worried you wouldn’t get the correct amount of dry ingredients in each jar. I made about seven all at once, but mixed each jar separately. It was like an assembly line. Good luck!
Oh my goodness! I am definitely making these for Christmas. 🙂
You should!!! Thanks for stopping by :).

How long will the ingredients be good for once in the jar? I am considering adding an expiration date.
I think many of the recipes say up to a year when stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, but personally, I would say 2-3 months tops. Hope this helps! Love the idea of an expiration date!!

Do the jars have to be wide mouth? Do those work best?
Yes, you need to use a wide mouth jar with all of these recipes. Good luck!

Just made the Cranberry Winter Cookie Jar (yummm!) but had room left over. :/ I did 2 more layers, 1 of cranberries and 1 of the chips to fill it all the way. Any idea what I did wrong? Do you think they will still come out okay? (I packed down the brown sugar, and subbed rice krispies for the pecans… thinking that might be it? It was a 1 qt jar from the Dollar Tree.)
Rice krispies do take up more room than pecans…maybe??? Not sure, you just might be really good at packing your layers!!! I’m sure it will turn out wonderful. Great improvising, by the way!!!

Help, I am in New Zealand and I have no idea what health chips are? Can you help.
Thanks heaps
Don’t worry! I’m here!! Heath chips are milk chocolate toffee bits. Do you have toffee candy bars in New Zealand? If so, just chop one or two up for the recipe…or buy them from Amazon HERE! Hope this helps!!!
Hi,
Do you have the printables for pint sized mason jars? Thanks! 🙂
The Winter Cranberry Cookies are DIVINE! I made the recipe ahead of time to make sure it was both easy for the recipient to prepare as well as delicious, and I devoured them! It’s a good thing I’m gifting these unmade, because I’m not sure they would make it to their destination baked! Thanks for the great printouts and recipe!
The Winter Cranberry Cookies have been a big hit. They are my favorite! I got the original recipe from Recipe Goldmine. Happy Holidays!
Love these! Hubby & I are going to be making the Santas cookies for some little Xmas gifts this year! Just a quick question (might be obvious!!) but it says 1 1/3 cup of flour in the Santa’s cookies recipe – does that mean just a 1/3 of a cup or 1 cup & another 1/3? Thank you! X
It means 1 cup plus 1/3 cup. Your welcome!! Enjoy!
Is white sugar powdered sugar or granulated? Wondering for the santa cookies! 🙂
It is granulated – normal sugar. Good luck and Happy Holidays!
I just made seven “sets” of these to give out as Christmas gifts this year and every single one turned out great! One question: I used 1 quart mason jars, and none have a perfectly smooth side to stick the labels on. How did you get yours to stick? I may end up just tying a ribbon around the neck and turning the labels into gift tags, but your pictures look so pretty with the labels on the jar!
Thanks for the recipes and the cute label PDFs! I can’t wait for friend and family to open/use these! 🙂
I used glue dots. They work great on uneven surfaces. Your loved ones are going to love these!! Happy Holidays!

This maybe a silly question but when you say white sugar do you mean powdered?
I only ask because some recipes say white some say granulated! Thanks for you time
No question is silly! When I say white I mean granulated sugar. I will fix the ingredients so it is more clear! Hope this helps!!! Happy Holidays!!
I love this!!! Thank you for all of the cool ideas and for the free printable jar tags. You made my life a lot easier this Christmas. And using the glue dots is a great idea – I used to always tie a ribbon around the top of the jar and attach a tag to the ribbon but I like the glue dots idea much better. I made the Toffee Blondie Bars for Christmas gifts – I can’t wait to try them for myself!
I’m obsessed with glue dots! So glad I could help you out last Christmas :)!!

Look forward to trying all these
Awesome! Let me know how it goes!!
hello, for the santa’s cookies…..what kind of oats – instant or regular?
You need to either use old fashion (a bit chunkier) or quick cooking oats (a bit finer), NOT instant!! Hope this helps :).
Great idea! How long do these keep for ? Before it starts getting hard and stale? I wanna get an early start for Christmas this year
If you seal your mason jars tight and store in a dry, cool place, they should last up to 1 year…however, if you use nuts or dried fruit, you should use within 6 months. But who can wait a year or 6 months!!! I usually make mine a few weeks to 1 month before handing out. Good luck!
Thx! Looking forward to trying these. Happy baking!
Awesome!
Hi! I can’t wait to try these. Do you know if any adjustments need to be made to the recipes if baking in high altitude? Thanks!
I’m from Kansas, so I have no experience baking in high altitudes, but Betty Crocker has a great chart called Baking and Cooking at High Altitudes. Hopefully, this will help you!!! Thanks for stopping by!
Just finished making two of every kind. It was so easy and I still have enough ingredients for about 3 more jars of something. Cost was about 4.90 each. The printable labels made things so easy. Thanks!
Wow, you are ahead of the game this holiday season!! They are such easy and yummy gifts. Congrats on getting it done!
Love this idea! Going to do for my son’s preschool teachers. Just wondering when you state the cup measurements, is that from a normal cup size or an actual measuring cup?
Yes, use an actual measuring cup. Good luck! I know your son’s teachers will love this gift!!
Great thank you!! Do you use light or dark brown sugar?
I didn’t know there were different brown sugars!! I use what they have from my local grocery store…I guess it is “light” brown sugar, but I’m sure you could use either. Happy mixing!!
Thank you so much for this post & these printables! I’m in charge of crafts for my mom’s group at church. This morning we made the Santa’s Cookies & Cranberry Winter Cookies jars with 40+ women. Everyone loved it!
Oh, this makes me so happy! Keep spreading the happiness, Ladies!!! Happy Holidays!
What size mason jars do you use?
I use 1 quart wide mouth mason jars like these {{HERE}” target=”_blank”>HERE}. Good luck!!
I want to make either Santa’s cookies or the Toffee blondie bars for the holidays this year! Which one would you recommend? Have a nice Thanksgiving!
The Santa’s Cookies are great if you are giving to kids or families. The Toffee Blondies Bars are great too. I can’t decide…make both :)!!

You are so welcome, Jamie. I’m happy to add any details if it helps!! Have a wonderful holiday season and have fun making your jars!!
Love these ideas. Thanks. I am planning to make the Cranberry Winter cookies for my friend who she is gluten free. Can I substitute the flour with Almond meal?
You can substitute almond meal for flour. I found an Ingredient Substitution List for Baking on Momables.com. Almond flour: substitute 1:1 with all-purpose (white) flour. Note: Almond flour typically requires more egg or binding agent, so the recipe might need to be altered.
Thank you so much for your receipes and guidence.
You are very welcome!!
Accidentally bought walnuts instead of pecans for the cranberry winter cookies.. thank they’ll still taste ok or should I go exchange them?
I think walnuts should be fine! Good luck!!
Is this a regular quart jar or a big mouth quart jar?? I have both!!
Sorry!!! I just found your answer in another of your postings!!!
Thanks!
You are faster than I am!! Glad you figured it out :). Good luck!!
