DIY Printable Kid Summer Chore Chart
Calling all working, stay-at-home working, wish you were working, wish you weren’t working people! Those animals we call our children are soon going to be released from captivity. We need to rally now, people, before they take over the world. What better way to keep them inline and out of our hair then…SUMMER CHORES!!!!!

I’m sure there are more chores…let me know if I left something off. I’m always eager to add more chores to my kids’ lists…wink, wink. Also, do you have a reward system for doing chores? What is it? That is my next step. Remember, chores are fun!
Cool! Thanks for sharing.
We don’t reward for basic chores, but Max (our 10 yr old) can earn money for doing extras. We pay him roughly $6/hr, which breaks down to $1 for 10 minutes, or 10 cents per minute. So, that’s how I figure out what I’ll pay for say, cleaning the windows. I might say 25 cents/window, ’cause they should only take about 2.5 minutes to do. Then, 10 cents for the bathroom mirror, and 50 cents for the sliding glass door. Bigger things like laundry obviously have a bigger payout.
I would add strip beds, sweep the porch, and windex all windows and mirrors.

Great additions to the list. If you could see my windows right now, you’d realize why I didn’t put windows on the list…neglected!!!! My windows really need to be cleaned. Thankfully I have three servants on hand to do it :)!
Great stuff and helpful guide for parents in need of direction during this hectic time of year. In an effort to give our kids that healthy balance of play time and chores, we came up with a pay system that works like a parking meter.
Using parts from an old coin bank and cooking timer, we built a harness that is strapped around the child’s back and has the look and feel of a knapsack. It accepts coins and keeps track of their time doing chores. Given my profession as a parking meter enforcer, we have a abundance of coins on hand.
When they finish their chores, we simply deposit their earnings and they go to the next chore. If they complete their chore within a certain time frame, they receive a reward like a free pass on a chore.
Overall, the kids love it and the only complaint we have received is the weight of the chore harness as it can get up to 20-lbs in weight, when full. They get much satisfaction in dumping their earnings into their reward jars at the end of day.
Keep up the great work!!!

Loved your post!
A note about the windows… even the littlest children can “help” with those… just mix a little vinegar and water in a spray bottle and give them a towel (that way it is safe if they decide to “taste” it.) My kids also help clear the table and clean it off… and the older ones help the younger one to get ready to go for me! 🙂 I love it when they are helpful!
Thanks, Brandy! I need to put my window washers to work tomorrow!!!. I’ll need to add your suggestions to my list.
