Help! Do you like my Blog Name?
I’m afraid of commitment. It’s so final. What if I don’t like it? What if they don’t like it? What if I’m no good at it? What if they’re no good at it? What if, what if, what if! Well, Its time for me to put my big girl pants on, get a grip and ask the people out there a REALLY hard question…
Do you like the name of my blog, Cul-de-Sac Cool, Creative Living in the Burbs?
I am new to blogging and just figuring it out. I want to buy the domain, but I’m afraid to, just incase I need a better name. I like the name, but not sure if anyone else does. I’m sort of afraid to ask. I know it’s not something you think about a lot, or plan to think about, but if you could think about it for a split second, what are your thoughts? Please be nice…I don’t want to have to make fun of you in a Modern Mom Proverb. This is not a threat, jut motherly guilt…my only weapon.Β Let the one or possibly two comments commence…
What does Cul-de-Sac mean? It’s original, but I’m not sure where the name comes from?
Cul-de-Sac is actually a french word litterally meaning the bottom of the sack. In Suburbia America, a cul-de-sac is “a street, lane, etc., closed at one end; blind alley; dead-end street.” If you have kids, Cul-de-sacs are great because you don’t have a lot of traffic so they are free to play. Here’s a pic of a cul-de-sac: http://www.culdesac.org/wp-content/blogs.dir/28/files/2011/08/CuldesacExplained.png
If you like it, then use it. If others don’t like it, screw them, bet they can’t think of a better one. Seriously though, you don’t live for other people.
I think it’s ok, so go ahead.
I know I just need to do it. Thanks for commenting. My goal was two comments and I reached that! I wish I had a give away to give you for helping me reach my goal :).
It would be a smart decision π What I did was think “can I think of a better name?” and I couldn’t so…
Heh, well done on your goal! I can see you now have 4 comments, so you might need to up your goal. π (especially since you’re gonna register it – congrats, must be exciting).
Thanks. It is exciting and terrifying, but a great diversion from laundry, much to my family’s dismay!
I like it very much!
Thanks! Love your name!
Becca, I love the cul-de-sac but am unconvinced re: the “cool.” But I don’t have something else to suggest right now. Cool suggests style–love your posts but they are mostly about practicality and/or observing life as it unfolds and less about style (which is over blogged about anyway).
Thanks, Dan. I totally get what you mean. How about Cul-de-Sal Common Thoughts? Naah. Or Cul-de-Sac Creative? Maybe. My favorite is Cul-de-Sac Awesomeness, but I don’t know if I’d have any takers :). Keep thinking for me, Dan, and let me know :). You can be on my board of directors.
If you like who gives a shit what others think? Blogging at it’s core is for the author and if others get something out of it, so much the better.
That being said, I like the name.
Thank you, What I Desire to Say. You said it well.
I like cul-de-sac cool. It does remind me a bit of the cul-de-sac crew on Cougar Town, which is one of my favorite shows, I smile when I see your blog name :). I think it’s a keeper
I’ve never watched Cougar Town. I may have to now. Thanks for your thoughts!
I’d just stick with Cul-de-Sac Cool and drop the creative part. That way if you don’t want to do creative stuff, you’re not committed and if you want to, it still will fit because your theme is broad. PS – it only costs a couple bucks to buy a domain, so if you hate it, you can buy another one and just point cul-de-sac cool at it as well.
Thanks, Jen. You are the expert in this. I may be calling you in the future for more advice! Please don’t punch me.
No punches!!
My humble opinion — Cool-de-Sac! Whatever you choose, have fun with it. People will catch on and read what you write…they already have. Hugs.
Thank you! Hugs back!!
Just realized that you may not know that it’s me, your sister’s sister-in-law π We Ferraras are everywhere!!! π
Now I get your name!!!! I may be asking you lots of questions about your blog…get ready! You really do get hugs back! We are going to miss seeing you guys this summer. Thanks for replying.
I think it’s great! And I like cool. If you want stylish with a c you could do chic or current. but I’d stick with cool!
Great suggestions, but I think I agree with you. Cul-de-Sac Chic sounds to shishi. Cul-de-Sac Current sounds like a rafting company. I think I’ll stick with Cool. Thank you, Carol :)!
I love it! Cul-de-sac fits you…it tells me you have kids and may have great ideas for mommies (which you do). And cool is perfect for you…your cool personality, sense of humor and ideas. LOVE IT! I’m hooked!
You are so sweet, Vicki! Thank you. I’m thinking I’ll keep the name…you are apart of my target audience :)!
I like it!
Thanks…I’m going to keep it, I think.
I’m glad you’re keeping it. I like it…and while cool can refer to style, when I saw the name of your blog I immediately thought of “laid back” cool. I was a nanny on a cul-de-sac for 8 years, the energy involved in a house-full is great, but like you said on a cul-de-sac they are free to play so it can ease a mom’s mind. That’s just where my squirrely mind went. hahaha (this is Jodi Davis by the way…loving your diy too)
Thanks, Jodi!!! I agree. Glad our squirrely minds think alike. Take care and thanks for reading!!!
